Our purpose is to bring together physical geography (variation in the environmental conditions) and human geography (management of natural systems and responses to fluctuations) to assess the vulnerability of coastal Dublin to flooding. This study is timely given the concern for global climate change and its implications for planning at all scales.

| Updates... - Here are some links to videos on flooding in Dublin that I think everyone should watch. The first is from the Eco Eye series and looks at how Dublin is planning for future events. It mentions the Safer project. http://www.eu-safer.de/272.html
- The second is from the Safer European website that seems to contain more information than the Irish Safer site on Dublin. You can watch a 15 minute DVD online that has been prepared by the Safter Dublin team and summaries what their aims and objectives are. It also mentions flood partnerships and how they are keen to build up a pitcure of risk and vunrability. Watch 'DVD-"Behind The Paradigm' Working with SAFER - the Strategies and Actions for Flood Emergency Risk Management project - Dublin City Council have developed an approach that incorporates SAFER principles with the internationally accepted five stage emergency management process. http://www.eu-safer.de/273.html
